Tech Directory

The Tech Directory is inteded to be a quick reference for faculty, staff and students to better understand software and databases utilized within the College of Education. This is not an exhaustive list of software and technology available to the CED or campus community, but is a collection of the most commonly used or inquired about tech. Please contact the CED Technology Group with any questions about software availability or training. For general questions about software availability or usage, please email ced-tech@csulb.edu

Adobe Creative Cloud

The Creative Cloud suite includes Acrobat Pro, After Effects, Audition, Bridge CC, Scout, Dreamweaver, Edge, Encore, Fireworks, Flash, InCopy, InDesign, Illustrator, Lightroom, Media Encoder, Muse, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Prelude, and SpeedGrade.

The Adobe Creative Cloud is available for faculty, staff and students. Log in to Single Sign On and select the Software Depot chiclet to install on your personal computer.

Camtasia

Camtasia is a software suite for creating video tutorials and presentations directly via screencast, or via a direct recording plug-in to Microsoft PowerPoint. Camtasia is also a full editing program that can export video in commonly used formats. Camtasia is a desktop application and requires installation on your workstation computer.

Camtasia is available to available for faculty, staff and students. Log in to Single Sign On and select the Software Depot chiclet to install on your personal computer.

InfoReady Review

InfoReady Review is a web-based software application that supports internal funding competitions and institutional-limited grant opportunities, as well as supporting any distributed process that involves announcing, reviewing and managing applications/proposals. Uses include, but are not limited to, managing internal student scholarships/stipends, student/faculty awards and honors, applications for travel support, student poster submissions, course bottleneck and course redesign funding initiatives etc.

InfoReady Review is available primarily to faculty and students to submit applications/proposals, and is available to staff primarily to manage processes. Log in to InfoReady Review using your campus credentials.

Kaltura

Kaltura is an online video platform designed to help create value with video. Kaltura's wide range of features and powerful tools will help engage and connect with audiences while being easy to manage and customize. The Kaltura platform works with BeachBoard and can support flipped classrooms and distance learning with lecture captures, interactive quizzes and bring-your-own-device models. While Kaltura is based on BeachBoard, it requires the install of a small desktop application to capture and upload recordings to "My Media Library" on BeachBoard.

Kaltura is available to faculty and staff via BeachBoard. Log in to Single Sign On and select the BeachBoard chiclet. Navigate to My Media Library along the top navigation bar to access Kaltura.

Microsoft Office 365

Office 365 is a Microsoft home use product that allows CSULB faculty, staff and students access to the following software and services for free on their personal devices as long as they are associated with the University:

  • Microsoft Office for Windows and Mac
  • Microsoft Office Web Apps
  • Microsoft Office Mobile Apps
  • Microsoft OneDrive for Business

Office 365 is available to students, faculty and staff for download to their personal computer. Log in to Single Sign On and select the Office 365 chiclet to view the web apps and install on your personal computer.

NVivo

NVivo is a data collection and analytic tool for quantitative and mixed-method research. It helps store and organize text, audio, video, emails, images, spreadsheets, online surveys, social and web context, and more. Data can then be analyzed by utilizing the data management, query, and visualization tools within NVivo.

NVivo is available to faculty and staff on personal computers, and is available to students, faculty and staff on campus computers. Log in to Single Sign On and select the Software Depot chiclet to install on your personal computer.

Qualtrics

Qualtrics is a simple and secure web-based survey tool used to conduct survey research, evaluations and other data collection activities. It is available to all CSULB students, staff, and faculty through a campus license agreement. Log in to Qualtrics using your campus credentials.

Respondus

Respondus is an application that lets instructors create and manage exams and surveys that can be printed to paper or published directly to BeachBoard. Instructors create exams and assessments offline using an interface and then publish the exams or surveys directly to a BeachBoard course. In addition, over 2,000 publisher test banks are available to instructors who use Respondus. 

Respondus is available to faculty and staff. Log in to Single Sign On and select the Software Depot chiclet to install on your personal computer.

S4

S4 is an online database that is used to collect and house information regarding student teacher placements and hours. Beginning Fall 2020, all student teachers will be required to report observation and student teaching hours through their S4 portal connected to their credential courses. Log in to S4 using your campus credentials.

Snagit

Snagit allows users to take and annotate screenshots, as well as create screen capture videos. Snagit is ideal for creating tutorials or help documentation for software, websites, or computer-based processes.

Snagit is available for download to faculty and staff. Log in to Single Sign On and select the Software Depot chiclet to install on your personal computer.

SPSS

SPSS Statistics is a software package used for interactive, or batched, statistical analysis. SPSS is available for download to students, faculty and staff, as well as being available on campus computers. Log in to Single Sign On and select the Software Depot chiclet to install on your personal computer.

Zoom

Zoom is a video conferencing tool for remote meetings, online courses, and webinars. Zoom can be used on desktop computers, mobile devices, and multimedia room systems. Log in to Single Sign On and select the Zoom chiclet to access your Zoom account and install the client on your personal computer.
