Bilingual Emphasis

Certificate in Professional and Conversational Competence for Spanish Heritage Speakers

CSULB SLP undergraduate students have the opportunity to earn a bilingual certificate. This option is available to students with existing language competence in Spanish.

The requirements for this bilingual certificate option include 

  • Must be a matriculated student in CSULB SLP Undergraduate Program
  • Take an assessment to confirm language proficiency in Spanish
  • Take three (3) additional Spanish courses in addition to the undergraduate-level coursework in SLP
  • Complete a clinical internship course (SLP 462 - Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) Practicum) primarily working with Spanish-English speaking populations
