EdTech and Equity: Mini Conference Keynote Speaker

Dr. Sharla Berry

Dr. Sharla Berry is an educator and an expert in the field of teaching and learning with technology in K-20 environments. She received her doctorate in Urban Education Policy from the University of Southern California, and her Master of Arts in Elementary Education from Loyola Marymount University. Dr. Berry is currently an Assistant Professor of Education Leadership at the Graduate School of Education at California Lutheran University. Prior to becoming a professor, Dr. Berry taught elementary and middle school in Los Angeles. As a K-12 educator, Dr. Berry was focused on preparing underrepresented students for college. She is the author of Degree for Free: How to Save Time and Money on Your College Education, a culturally relevant guide to college access for first-generation students of color. As a higher education practitioner, Dr. Berry has been active in conducting research that promotes equity and inclusion in online environments. Her research has been featured in many academic journals including Online Learning, the Journal of Computing in Higher Education, and the International Review of Research in Open and Distributed Learning, and at academic conferences including the American Educational Research Association (AERA) and Association for the Study of Higher Education (ASHE).
