School Counseling Alum Appointed to ASCA Board of Directors

Congratulations to College of Education alumna, Dr. Rebecca Pianta (MS, School Counseling '05, Pupil Personnel Services Credential '05) who will be serving the school counseling profession at the national level with her appointment to the American School Counseling Association (ASCA) Board of Directors.  A graduate of CSULB’s school counseling program and with 16 years of experience in education, she has been a school counselor at all levels, district lead counselor, coordinator, school counselor educator, and national consultant. Currently, Dr. Pianta works at Santa Ana Unified School District as the Coordinator of College and Career Readiness, supporting school counselors district-wide in implementing the ASCA National Model. In 2019, Dr. Pianta was recognized as California and Orange County School Counselor Advocate of the Year. 

Dr. Pianta states, "I joined the ASCA Board to elevate the voices of the underrepresented, advocate for school counselors, and help guide the future of the school counseling profession to ensure equitable outcomes for ALL students."
