$250,000 Grant Funded to Create Integrated Bilingual Teacher Education Program

The California Commission on Teacher Credentialing has awarded CSULB a $250, 000 grant to develop the Bilingual Urban Education for All Students (BUENAS) program. Three faculty co-PIs, Jessica Pandya (Liberal Studies), Olga Rubio (Teacher Education) and José Moreno (Chicano/Latino Studies) will work with faculty in the College of Education and the College of Liberal Arts (Maria Carreira, Tim Keirn, Trini Lewis, Abigail Rosas, and Fay Shin) to integrate Chicano and Latino Studies content into undergraduate and credential courses, creating a new, innovative, four-year BA + Multiple Subject Credential + Bilingual Authorization program. Through BUENAS, CSULB will develop and place highly qualified bilingual teachers.
