Intern Pathway Overview 

The Education Specialist Credential Program Internship Pathway is available for candidates that are first admitted to the Education Specialist Credential Program, in good standing, have completed the requirements to be eligible for an internship that are listed below, and have been offered full time employment in a public school district within the CSULB service area (15 miles from campus) and in which CSULB has an approved Internship Agreement on file.  

The Education Specialist Credential Program Internship Pathway includes the same courses as the Traditional ESCP Pathway, with the addition of one supervision & support course each semester of the internship that the candidate is not student teaching. Once candidates complete the four courses (12 units) listed below, they may complete the remaining required program courses, including Student Teaching, while on an internship credential. This pathway allows candidates to work as a full-time teacher of record while completing their credential program. The Internship Credential is valid for up to 2 years. Candidates must remain in good standing, remain enrolled and meet all internship requirements to maintain internship status. 

Internships are in public school districts and charter schools which placement has been approved by the Education Specialist Program Coordinator and is within the CSULB service area (15 miles from campus) in which we have a current Affiliation Agreement and Internship Agreement on file. Internships cannot be done in private schools.
