Connie Yu
Connie Yu, SLPD, CCC-SLP, is a full-time lecturer in the Department of Speech-Language Pathology at California State University, Long Beach. She earned her master’s degree from the University of Redlands and her doctorate from Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions in Provo, Utah.
With over 16 years of diverse clinical experience across public schools, skilled nursing facilities, and private practice, Connie brings a comprehensive and practical perspective to her teaching and supervision. She is particularly passionate about supporting children on the autism spectrum, with a strong focus on working closely with their caregivers to foster meaningful and functional communication.
As a bilingual Mandarin speaker, Connie specializes in caregiver coaching and delivering linguistically and culturally responsive services, particularly for minimally verbal populations. Her doctoral research involved a single-subject case study examining the use of hand cues in combination with parent-implemented intervention strategies to support children with moderate to severe motor speech disorders.
Connie regularly collaborates with other healthcare professionals, providing services through a collaborative, interdisciplinary treatment model. She is also well-versed in the policies and procedures of regional centers, school districts, and healthcare systems, ensuring that she provides services aligned with current standards and regulations.
