ESSC Appointment-Based Advising

Engineering students may book 30-minute advising appointments with an Academic Advisor via BeachConnect. Please see our Appointment Guide below for a tutorial on scheduling an appointment. For immediate inquiries, you may reach us during drop-ins or via email at coe-advising@csulb.edu.

Please note: Drop-In and Appointment-based advising is for continuing students only. For prospective students, please reach out to Admissions: Prospective Students. For incoming freshmen, please visit COE: Incoming FTFY. For incoming transfers, please visit COE: Incoming Transfers.

Step 1: Go to CSULB Apps on your SSO, and click the Beach Connect tile.

Step 2: Click on blue "Get Assistance" button, located on the right-hand side.

Step 3: In the dropdown-menus, be sure to select the following:

  • Type of Appt.: Academic Advising
  • Service: Select whichever service applies to you, i.e. "General Education (GE) Advising"
  • Date: Select tomorrow's date. (Appts. must be scheduled 24 hours in advance)
  • Location: College of Engineering Student Success Center - Advising (EN2-304)

Step 4a: If appts. are available, they will populate to the right of the calendar. Select the time in the blue bubble that works best for you.

Step 4b: If appts. are not available, select a different date. If appts. still do not populate, advisors may be booked. Try checking again later in the week for any cancellations. Additional availability for the following week may open up on Friday afternoon.

Step 5: On the next page, select how you would like to meet and enter anything you would like to share with your advisor beforehand, so they may better prepare for your appt.

Step 6: If you would like an email/text reminder, be sure to select the corresponding boxes, before clicking on the blue "Schedule" button.

2025 COE Advising Closure Notices

Drop-In Advising and Appointment-Based Advising will be closed on the following holidays, due to campus closures.

  • Monday, January 20th (MLK Jr. Day):  Campus Closed.
  • Monday, March 31st (Cesar Chavez Day):  Campus Closed.
  • Monday, May 26th (Memorial Day): Campus Closed.
  • Thursday, June 19th (Juneteenth): Campus Closed.
  • Friday, July 4th (Independence Day): Campus Closed.
