First-Year Experiences
Welcome First-Year and Transfer students! The College of Engineering believes it's vital to welcome you into our campus community, and give you the tools to successfully navigate your first year on campus. Each month, we host a variety of events and workshops targeted to help you connect with other students, while learning tips and tricks to thrive at The Beach.

Fall 2025 Events: Fall 2025 Events Flyer
- Thursday, October 23rd, 12-2pm:
First Year and Transfer Student Pizza Party – Come by for some FREE PIZZA and meet me in the COE Tutoring Center (EN2-302D).
- Friday, October 31st, 1-4pm:
Spooky Keychain Making – Stop by for free Halloween candy, new friends, and make a keychain/bag charm in the COE Tutoring Center (EN2-302D).
- November 13th from 2-3pm in ECS 304 I am hosting Finish the Semester Strong, an interactive workshop where I help students check their course progress and create an actionable plan moving forward.
- November 19th from 11-3pm in EN2 – 302D (Tutoring Center) I am co-hosting Friendsgiving at the COE Tutoring Center. We will be providing a light lunch for students and having them complete “Leaves of Gratitude” to reflect on what they are grateful for before Thanksgiving Break.

- Self-Care 101: Check you email for this month's newsletter including this month's theme of self-care and wellness as well as insightful videos and resources to help you through the month!
- Feb. 11
- Wellness Workshop: Find out how to find a school-life balance in this session with counseling and psychological services (CAPS) and learn how to establish self-care habits. (2:00-3:00 pm ECS-304)
- Feb. 14
- Friendship Bracelet Making: Celebrate Valentine's Day by making bracelets and new friends! (12:00-2:00 pm VEC Courtyard)
- Feb. 26
- Find Your Tribe: Connect with the Office of Belonging & Inclusion and learn how to find community on campus. (2:00-3:00 pm ECS-304)
