Questions?
cob-tutoring@csulb.edu
For every hour you spend in class, you should spend 3 hours studying on your own. Therefore, if you are taking 12 units, you should be studying 36 hours per week! Visit the Study36 webpage for more information and tips on how to plan for 36 hours of study time.
A Peer Tutor is a fellow student who is experienced (though not an expert) in specific course content. It is their job to help guide other students in becoming independent learners through questioning techniques and the modeling of effective study strategies and use of resources.
It is not a Peer Tutor's job to teach or do other students' work. Though tutoring may involve a bit of teaching (especially if a student needs a review of fundamentals), the student is responsible for working out their own homework problems. Peer Tutors will not assist you with take-home quizzes and exams. Students may, however, ask a Peer Tutor to review the concepts or similar questions to those present on a quiz or exam.
If you are in urgent need of a financial calculator, we recommend downloading the free online emulator for the HP 10bII+.
Please note that each finance instructor may prefer or require a specific calculator model. We recommend reviewing your syllabus and contacting your instructor when in doubt.
