Department of Information Systems

Information Systems is the field that connects business and technology. Corporations are constantly seeking talents who are business minded and technically savvy. Our mission is to educate capable professionals who can effectively develop, manage, and enhance business information systems for better operations and decision making. Information Systems is to analyze, design, develop, and manage business information systems for effective operations and decision making. A successful information system student must excel in both in-depth understanding of business context, and solid technical abilities.

It is important that you build a strong technical foundation through your course work. Business students are typically well trained in soft skills (such as communication and management) and business context (i.e., you understand Accounting, Finance, and business processes). These are wonderful skills to complement your technical skills, which is often the determining factor for you to land your first job.

Minor Information

The Master of Science in Information Systems (MSIS) is designed to provide students with an advanced and highly sought-after expertise necessary in the field of information systems. The program provides training in advanced technical, managerial, and analytical techniques with a focus on digital transformation, data analytics, and cyber security, which will advance student career prospects and prepare them for lifelong learning in a global economy.  Students can choose one of two tracks (accelerated/fulltime or professional/part-time) to accommodate their work schedule and their career goals.

The business analytics certificate program provides students with the foundational knowledge and skills to organize and analyze business-related data in various formats. Students learn how to identify business problems, develop solution processes, present descriptive and predictive outcomes, and make decisions accordingly. Large data sets, case studies, and practical software tools are utilized.

The vision of the Information Systems (IS) Advisory Board is to become a resource of contemporary methods and trends in the information systems field. Strategic targets and milestones are created accordingly with initial objectives in the development of relevant structure, policy, and charter.

As a strategic board, it intends to provide continuous, forward-thinking input and guidance and act as a think tank. The board aims to ensure that the Information Systems Department remains continuously relevant and is of maximum value to the students and faculty.

MISSION STATEMENT

The core mission of the IS Advisory Board is as follows:

  • Ensure continuous relevance through high-impact industry intelligence by way of concepts, best practices, and methodology, and with value for all who utilize it;
  • Promote innovation with a progressive agenda by testing ideas and concepts with real companies;
  • Provide new channels for students to access mentorships and internships in the IS field, as well as communicate the local information technology (IT) and IS job market.
