Jim Green

General Manager – IT Service Delivery, Chevron
1985, Bachelor of Science, Computer Science and Engineering
1982, Associate of Science, Long Beach City College

Jim Green’s information technology knowledge, engineering skills and initiative have led to significant leadership responsibilities at Chevron. As General Manager of IT Service Delivery, Jim leads a global organization responsible for IT strategy, solution development, and service delivery for all of Chevron. In his career, Jim has also served as the CIO of Chevron Global Exploration and Production, CIO of Downstream and Chemicals and the General Manager of Technical Computing where he has led organizations that provided the software and systems needed to safely and reliably operate Chevron assets throughout the world.

Before joining Chevron in 1990, he worked as a software engineer at Rockwell Marine Systems, and in aircraft assembly at Douglas Aircraft Company.  After serving four years in the U.S. Air Force and emerging as a skilled jet aircraft mechanic, Green went back to college with help from both the GI Bill and his wife, Catherine, an elementary school teacher.

“He’s an inspiration to many first-generation and under-represented minority students,” notes Forouzan Golshani, dean of the College of Engineering.  Green has remained an active and enthusiastic member of the Beach family, mentoring students, organizing alumni events, and serving on the Dean’s Advisory Council. He serves as Co-Chair of the Houston CIO Executive Summit and volunteers with the Houston Habitat for Humanity. Jim and Catherine are avid supporters of the Houston Symphony. A self-described “sports nut,” Green enjoys golf, off-road riding, and taking in NASCAR races with family and friends.
