Elizabeth Pringle-Hornsby

Dr. Pringle-Hornsby was selected to serve as the CalSWEC Project Coordinator in Spring 2017.  Prior to serving as the CalSWEC Project Coordinator, Dr. Pringle-Hornby worked with CSULB as a CalSWEC Field Consultant from 2000-2004.  She has an interest in public child welfare, child and family well-being, and student success and engagement. These areas of interest began at an early age, however, were further encouraged by the completion of her Bachelors's (1986) and Masters's (1987) degree in Social Work. Following the completion of her Masters's degree, she soon went to work with Franklin County Child Services in Columbus, Ohio as a Children Social Worker.   It was this experience that inspired her continual efforts to work with families and children in non-public child welfare settings.

She received her EdD from the University of Southern California School of Education with an emphasis in Higher Education in 2013. The focus of her dissertation was on how college preparation programs assist and support first-generation students in their first year of college.

Prior to joining CSULB the second time, Dr. Pringle-Hornsby worked in a number of administrative assignments with USC School of Social Work: Assistant Dean of Student Affairs, 2004-10, National Field Coordinator (Assist Director, VAC Field Education), 2010-13, Orange County Center Director, 2013-15.  Since she has worked in social work education for almost 20 years with students and faculty, this has also sparked her interest in student engagement and success.  In most of her administrative assignments, she has been able to mentor, guide, and support students formally and informally. She sees this as a critical aspect of her role and understands the importance of helping to prepare the next generation of social work professionals.
