Professor Pasztor is experienced as a public agency caseworker and supervisor; curriculum developer and trainer working nationally and internationally; social work educator and practicum instructor; and foster and adoptive parent for children who, now as adults, continue to require her support because of their special needs.  Over her 26 years at the School of Social Work, she taught MSW courses in administration, child welfare, social welfare policy, and thesis for both campus and distance education programs reaching over 3,000 students.  She also served as Director of Field Education and Editor for the journal Reflections – Narratives of Professional Helping. She served as a resource for CSULB’s Media Affairs on child welfare issues, and on the College of Health and Human Services Faculty Council. Following her promotions from Assistant to Associate to Full Professor, she was awarded Emerita status.

Prior to joining the CSULB faculty, Professor Pasztor worked for the Child Welfare League of America (CWLA) as its national program director for adoption, family foster care and kinship care, and as a liaison between the organization and 125 child welfare agencies in 15 Western states.  She is a principal developer of foster and adoptive parent and kinship caregiver training programs that are used across the United States and internationally.  Her publications focus on foster parent, kinship caregiver and adoptive parent recruitment, assessment, development and support, and related competency-based training for child welfare social workers.  Her volunteer work has been local and national.  She continues to serve as a consultant and trainer for child welfare agencies and organizations.

Professor Pasztor’s keynote addresses and training workshops have reached over 10,000 caregivers and social workers and other advocates locally, nationally and beyond.  The NASW Code of Ethics and advocacy always are central themes.
