Force Options - Use of Force and De-escalation (SB230)

This is a Train the Trainer course that satisfies the training requirements of SB230 and AB392.

This course satisfies the training requirements of Senate Bill 230 and Assembly Bill 392, including Use of Force and De-escalation. This is an instructors' course that covers the legal and policy standards regarding use of force, the duty to intercede pursuant to Assembly Bill 26, and a supervisor's responsibility subsequent to a use of force incident. The course incorporates elements of implicit and explicit bias, mental health awareness, and learning strategies as they pertain to use of force and de-escalation.

The course satisfies perishable skills training for both Use of Force and Strategic Communications PSPs.

Students will learn to teach the SB230 Force Options Use of Force/De-escalation course using either role players or a Force Options Simulator.
