Long Beach Age-Friendly Action Plan

In January 2018, the City of Long Beach made a public commitment to enhance the quality of life of residents as they age by joining AARP's Network of Age-Friendly Communities. On May 13, 2025, the Long Beach City Council adopted the 2025 Long Beach Age-Friendly Action Plan, a result of a city-wide collaborative initiative that included the Director and Program Manager from the Center for Successful Aging (CSA) as part of the Steering Committee.  This comprehensive plan serves as a vital community blueprint, striving to create inclusive, responsive, and supportive environments for older adults. It unites city departments, community organizations, healthcare providers, housing partners, businesses, faith-based groups, and residents in a shared mission to enhance livability for older adults and individuals of all ages within the city of Long Beach.

CSA is eager to continue its involvement in the execution of the plan.  As a part of our commitment to workforce development, we look forward to supporting the objectives of the plan by providing student interns to implement various initiatives.  To further enhance the plan's success and sustainability, CSA will also provide support through education, research, and resources in the areas of Housing, Social Participation, Respect and Social Isolation, and Health Services & Community Supports.
