What is IAEM?

The International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM) is a professional organization dedicated to promoting the principles, practices, and advancement of emergency management worldwide. IAEM provides education, networking, and professional development opportunities for practitioners and students committed to preparedness, mitigation, response, recovery, and community resilience. It is also the only international professional emergency management association authorized to grant the Associate Emergency Manager (AEM) and Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) designations.

The International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM) Student Chapter at California State University, Long Beach supports the academic, professional, and leadership development of students interested in emergency management, homeland security, disaster preparedness, public safety, and resilience.

Our organization provides students with opportunities to connect classroom learning to real-world practice through professional development, networking, service, and engagement with the emergency management field.
