Masters in Early Childhood Education Alumna joins Ph.D. Program at Yale

Patrice D. Collins, an alumna of the Master’s in Early Childhood Education (ECE) program has been accepted to the Ph. D. in Sociology program at Yale University this fall. Patrice was the recipient of the Outstanding Graduate of the College of Education award in 2012 and was awarded Graduate Research Fellowship by CSULB for the 2011-2012 academic year. She was also among the 20 recipients of the 2010 Governor Schwarzenegger Minerva Scholarship that acknowledged outstanding California women in their pursuit of higher education. Patrice explored father involvement of formerly incarcerated African-American fathers in her thesis study and presented her research at the American Education Research Association annual conference in 2013. She plans to continue her research focus on children of incarcerated parents while at Yale.
