FORP Peer Reviewer Program

The goal of this program is to provide valuable feedback related to online course design to faculty participants in the Faculty Online Readiness Program (FORP).

In this program, Faculty Peer Reviewers and ATS Instructional Designers will work together to conduct reviews of FORP participants' courses based on a set of online teaching standards taken from the Quality Matters Rubric [PDF].

  • If you are interested in becoming a Faculty Peer Reviewer, please review the information and requirements below and contact ATS to indicate your interest at ats-instructionaldesign@csulb.edu. An ATS Instructional Designer will contact you to discuss the details.
  • Faculty participants in FORP will receive details about the course peer review process during the program.

Faculty Peer Reviewers will be assigned to work with FORP participants according to the schedule below. Peer Reviewers may choose to review multiple participants' courses in the same Training Course group, or across different Training Course dates, as desired.  ATS Instructional Designers will coordinate closely with you on the schedule.

Faculty Peer Reviewers are familiar with course design, well versed in online course development and delivery and have experience teaching online for multiple years.

  1. Attend the orientation kick-off meeting on Friday, February 3, @11am via Zoom (optional, but encouraged!)
  2. Work with an instructional designer to facilitate communication with FORP participants.
  3. Evaluate and confirm completion of instructional designers' course reviews using the FORP Course Training Checklist [PDF].
  4. Provide recommendations and other feedback to faculty enrolled in FORP.
  5. Connect with FORP participants and ATS Instructional Designers to ensure the course review meets FORP requirements.

As a Peer Reviewer, will I be required to review each course for all 42 standards of the Quality Matters rubric?
The course reviews for FORP will be based on an abbreviated set of QM Rubric standards (no more than 7 standards).

If I am a Peer Reviewer for multiple courses, will I be assigned different FORP participants for each course?
You may be assigned to a different FORP participant in each Training Course. If possible, we will try to arrange it so that you can work with the same participant throughout the program.

If I am a Peer Reviewer for multiple courses, will I work with different Instructional Designers for each course?
If you will review multiple courses, you will be assigned to work with the same instructional designer throughout the program.

What level of feedback I am expected to provide?
Peer Reviewers are expected to examine courses using the Course Training Checklist based on the QM Rubric standards. You will identify evidence of how the standards are met and provide applicable recommendations for improvement.
