Leslie Moorehead

Dr. Leslie Moorehead joins the School of Social Work as a new tenure-track faculty member. She recently earned her PhD in Social Work from Our Lady of the Lake University, where her dissertation used an intersectional lens to examine social and economic factors in chronic musculoskeletal pain using national health data. Her research centers on pain equity and chronic pain, with broader interests in health equity, intersectionality, disability studies, and trauma-informed care. A Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in Washington State, she brings a career that bridges direct clinical practice with policy and systems-level research. With over 10 years post-MSW experience, Leslie has worked in child welfare, crisis response, and community mental health. Outside of academia, Leslie loves long walks and hiking, time at the beach, traveling with her partner (and dog!) or friends, curling up with a fun and fluffy novel, and is hoping to learn to paint.
