Are you feeling anxious because of COVID-19 and the end of the academic year? We are here to support you. CHHS Town Halls are a way to connect and learn about timely health and wellness topics that impact the Beach community.

Here’s what our panel of health and wellness experts will be talking with you about:

  • Dr. Ayla Donlin, LifeFit Director: Simple strategies to boost your well-being
  • Dr. Yanling Qi, Health Care Administration professor: Her research findings on the airborne transmission of COVID-19 and how to protect yourself and others.
  • Gloria Flores, Peer Program Coordinator of CAPS: A new way to connect with other students for emotional support and mental health resources.

Wellness Boost Speaker: Dr. Ayla Donlin, LifeFit Center

Dr. Ayla Donlin

Ayla Donlin is the director of the LifeFit Center @ The Beach, an experiential learning and research laboratory on the campus of Long Beach State University (LBSU). She is an adjunct faculty in the Kinesiology Department and has been teaching courses in the fitness and sport studies options since 2008.​ Her current research is a Health and Exercise Intervention Study, which is a collaboration between kinesiology and physical therapy faculty and students.

Ayla has been active in the fitness industry for over 15 years as a group fitness instructor, personal trainer, group fitness director, wellness coach, master trainer, and health club general manager.​​​​

 

Wellness Research Speaker: Dr. Yangling Qi, Health Care Administration

Dr. Yanling Qi

Yanling Qi is an economist who joined the CSULB Department of Health Care Administration as an assistant professor in fall 2015.​​ Her fields of interest involve health economics, health care finance, and labor and public economics with a focus on program evaluation.​​ Prior to joining CSULB, she was a visiting scholar at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta and lectured at Georgia State University.

Moderator: Natalie Whitehouse-Capuano, Department of Health Science

Natalie Whitehouse

Ms. Whitehouse-Capuano is a part-time faculty member for the Health Science Department and serves as the Coordinator for the MSHCA Accelerated Program. Ms. Whitehouse-Capuano has over twenty years of experience in tobacco prevention.  She wrote and administered several tobacco prevention grants for the Center for Health Care Innovation at CSULB working on tobacco-free policies for college campuses, parks, restaurants, bars, and communities. She is currently the co-chair of the BREATHE campaign at CSULB. Ms. Whitehouse-Capuano received her teaching credential, Bachelor of Science in Dietetics and Food Administration, and Master of Public Health degrees at CSULB.
