Kyle Riedel

Kyle Riedel received a BS in Psychology from Portland State University and his MFA in Transmedia from the University of Texas at Austin. His work covers a range of media including Photography, video installation, and 3d computer models, and has been exhibited both nationally and internationally.

A central theme of Mr. Reidel’s work is to explore the uncanny intersection between physical and psychological space. This relationship is expanded by the proliferation of technologies that mediate our contemporary spaces such as photography, film, gaming, virtual realities, and data mapping. Often working with collaborator Christine Catsifas a New Orleans artist, they have engaged in making work that extends beyond the self. Their projects reveal both the connection and estrangement from our surroundings, especially the tension that occurs between the notion of photographic truth and the fiction of our landscapes.
