School of Social Work Springing into New Semester with SYR Program
The School of Social Work's Strengthening Youth Resilience Program (SYR) is in its fourth year and our incredible student interns have continued their work helping to advance youth mental health wellbeing, as part of the SYR program, in LBUSD K-8 middle and high school sites and in Boys & Girls Clubs of Long Beach. During winter intersession, we spent time engaging with our students and community partners and listened to students' reflection of their experience so far in SYR and their Social Work program as a whole. Looking forward to seeing the amazing work our students will accomplish this semester! Go Beach!
We are extremely grateful for the connectedness and vision of Rocky Suares (Pacific Coast Capital Management) and the help of Dr. Chris Steinhauser (former LBUSD Superintendent and CSU Board Trustee) who were both instrumental in bringing community partners together with the College of Health and Human Services and the School of Social Work, including the Miller Foundation, the Munzer Foundation, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Long Beach, and LBUSD to conceptualize and make SYR a reality!
