CCJEM hosts Wilson High School's Leadership and Public Service Students

A Wilson High School student holds up her own extracted set of fingerprints. Students learned about the different fingerprint patterns associated with Crime Scene Investigation and were taught how Forensic Specialists use fingerprints to track down criminals.

Wilson High School students got a special lecture on Introduction to Crime Scene Investigation in Prof. Kimberlee Guluzian's class in the CSULB Forensics Lab. 

Our School of Criminology, Criminal Justice and Emergency Management (CCJEM) was thrilled to host Wilson High School students currently studying in the Leadership and Public Service Pathway at their school. Students studying in this pathway aspire to serve their community and become ethical problem solvers, while gaining the skills necessary to address the issues surrounding the public service industry.  

Our expert faculty were on hand to give Wilson students a behind the scenes tour of who we are and what we do in CCJEM, starting with Dr. Aili Malm, CCJEM Director, who welcomed the students to our college and school, along with Profs. Christine Scott-Hayward, Mischelle Van Brakle, and Robert Schug. Students were given a special lecture and hands-on activity in the Forensics Lab with Professor Kimberlee Guluzian's Introduction to Crime Scene Investigation. Prof. Guluzian has been a professional Forensic Specialist for 23 years, and is a certified POST CSI Trainer. Later in the tour, students were treated to a session on Criminal Procedure and Sentencing from Dr. Christine Scott-Hayward, CSULB Professor of Law, Criminology and Criminal Justice. Dr. Robert Schug gave an introduction to Forensic Psychology, and to the delight of the students, explained to the class about his work with studying serial killers and criminal minds. It’s never too early to start thinking about future career pathways, and our group from Wilson are certainly on their way to discovering their dream career!
