BESST 10-Year Anniversary
The College of Engineering Proudly celebrated the 10-year anniversary of BESST, The Beach Engineering Student Success Team.
In a gathering Nov. 9, current BESST students, alumni, supports, staff and friends met at The Pointe to reflect on the impact the program has had. For a decade, it s helped College of Engineering students from diverse backgrounds, with the greatest need and whose math preparation is not at the Calculus 1 level by supporting them academically, developmentally and socially.
BESST students are registered in cohorts, working with fellow students—along with tutors— almost daily. This close support introduces them to university facilities and resources, as well as faculty, staff and other students. This cohort model has expanded across the campus under the new program BeachXP.
