A Warm Welcome to Dr. Greg Ayscue – The Newest Addition to PT@TheBeach

Greg Ayscue

With a strong foundation in sports medicine, academic excellence, and a passion for patient-centered care, Dr. Greg Ayscue brings a wealth of experience that will benefit our campus and community.

Greg’s path to physical therapy began in the world of collegiate athletics, where he served as a strength and conditioning coach at the University of North Carolina Greensboro. This experience gave him deep insight into athletic performance, injury prevention, and the physical demands athletes face—knowledge that continues to inform his clinical practice today.

He earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Central Florida and went on to specialize in outpatient sports medicine in the Washington DC area. Greg’s clinical expertise focuses on helping patients recover from injury, regain function, and return to the activities they love.

Greg’s commitment to advancing the field extends beyond the clinic. He currently serves as full-time core faculty at Hawaii Pacific University at Las Vegas, where he teaches in a hybrid Doctor of Physical Therapy program, balancing online instruction with in-person teaching in Las Vegas. He also has held a position at West Coast University in Los Angeles, further contributing to the education of future physical therapists.

“PT@TheBeach stands out for several reasons,” said Dr. Ayscue, who is particularly enthusiastic about the resources and philosophy that define the clinic. “Located within the LifeFit Center gym, our therapists have access to specialized equipment that most clinics don't offer—including three Alter-G treadmills. These anti-gravity treadmills allow patients to return to running and weight-bearing activities earlier and more safely after injury or surgery.”

“Equally important is our commitment to individualized care. At PT@TheBeach, every patient receives one-hour evaluations and 45-minute treatment sessions—a level of one-on-one attention that is uncommon in today's healthcare landscape. This approach allows our therapists to truly understand each patient's goals and create personalized treatment plans.”

In his role at PT@TheBeach, Dr. Ayscue will work with a diverse patient population, including college students, community members, faculty, staff, and athletes. As one of three physical therapists at the clinic, he's eager to help patients of all backgrounds achieve their recovery and performance goals.

While his primary focus will be clinical care, Greg is also excited about the potential to engage with students from CSULB's highly regarded Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program. He looks forward to opportunities for teaching and mentoring the next generation of physical therapists.

Dr. Ayscue’s addition to PT@TheBeach represents our ongoing commitment to providing exceptional, evidence-based physical therapy care to the CSULB community and beyond. His unique blend of clinical expertise, athletic background, and academic experience makes him an invaluable addition to our team.

Meet Mils Hillman: PT@TheBeach’s Newest Orthopedic Expert

Mils Hillman

PT@TheBeach Orthopedic Clinic is thrilled to introduce one of its newest physical therapists, Dr. Mils Hillman — a seasoned clinician, dedicated educator, and passionate advocate for orthopedic health. Whether you're a competitive athlete pushing your limits or someone simply trying to move through daily life without pain, Mils brings the expertise, warmth, and insight to help you get there.

Dr. Hillman is a board-certified orthopedic specialist with a particular passion for foot and ankle care — and for good reason. She brings a nuanced, science-driven perspective to one of the most commonly overlooked areas of the body.

One of Dr. Hillman’s key clinical insights is both eye-opening and empowering for patients – ligamentous ankle injuries don't fully heal back to their original state. Rather than accepting diminished function, Mils focuses on understanding how these injuries ripple through the entire lower extremity — affecting balance, muscle recruitment, and movement patterns — and designing targeted treatment plans to restore optimal performance from the ground up.

Her approach is meticulous, holistic, and deeply rooted in evidence-based practice. Patients working with Mils aren't just recovering from injuries — they're being equipped with knowledge and tools to move smarter and stronger for the long term.

Dr. Hillman's journey in physical therapy is as rich as it is impressive. She spent a formative decade teaching at the University of Southern California (USC) from 2008 to 2018, where she helped shape the next generation of physical therapy professionals. Today, she continues that academic mission as a faculty member at Mount St. Mary's University in downtown Los Angeles — a role she has held since 2006.

Ask anyone at PT@TheBeach what makes the clinic special, and the answers will come quickly. Housed within the LifeFit Center on campus, the clinic enjoys a truly unique advantage: direct access to state-of-the-art gym equipment and athletic facilities that most standalone clinics can only dream of, allowing clinicians to treat patients across a remarkably wide spectrum, from competitive athletes returning from injury to weekend warriors and community members seeking relief. The ability to assess and treat patients right in a gym environment means that therapy isn't just reactive — it's dynamic, functional, and built for real life.

"Being on campus gives us access to resources that truly elevate what we can do for our patients — athletes, staff, students, and the broader community alike," Dr. Hillman said.

Whether you're a student athlete recovering from injury, a community member seeking to improve mobility, or a faculty member managing chronic pain, Greg, Mils, Susie and the entire PT@TheBeach team are here to help you move better and live better.
