SCPD CMP Leadership Retreat 2026
Building Leaders Through Challenge and Innovation
The Student Center for Professional Development (SCPD)Corporate Mentoring Program (CMP) Leadership Retreat 2026 provided an unforgettable weekend of leadership development, teamwork, mentorship, and personal growth. Bringing together CMP mentees and volunteer facilitators, including alumni and mentors, the retreat challenged students to step outside their comfort zones, strengthen connections, and develop skills that will serve them throughout their academic and professional journeys. Throughout the weekend, students participated in teambuilding activities, leadership development exercises, mentorship discussions, and ropes course challenges designed to push them beyond perceived limits. These experiences encouraged students to communicate, build trust, and work together while building confidence, resilience, and leadership skills.
One of the retreat's signature experiences is the Business Pitch Competition, where students were given less than 24 hours to develop, strategize, and present a three-year business plan with a product or service. Working in teams with students they had not previously met, participants created innovative business concepts, marketing strategies, financial projections, presentations, and commercials before pitching their ideas to a panel of industry professionals. The challenge required students to apply classroom knowledge in a real-world setting while demonstrating creativity, critical thinking, problem solving, and teamwork under pressure. The results were nothing short of impressive, and we are incredibly proud of all our project teams and the dedication they demonstrated throughout the competition. Congratulations to this year's winning teams, Equi-Pulse and Sipply, whose creativity and execution distinguished them among an outstanding group of participants.
Beyond the activities and competitions, the retreat highlighted the strength of the CMP community. Through mentorship conversations, shared challenges, heartfelt mailbox notes, and meaningful reflection, students experienced endless encouragement and support. Every student contributed something valuable to the weekend and left with new connections, greater confidence, and a stronger sense of purpose. As one participant shared, “I finally feel like I belong,” a powerful reminder of the retreat's ability to create a genuine sense of community. A special acknowledgment must also be given to our sponsors and facilitators, without whom this experience would not have been possible. From providing financial support, leading ropes course activities and coaching project teams to providing feedback, judging presentations, writing mailbox notes, and supporting retreat logistics, every contribution helped create a meaningful and memorable experience for our students. We extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who dedicated their weekend to investing in our students and helping make the retreat such a transformative experience.
