Spring 2026 Beach Fin Rising Symposium
On March 13, 2026, the Finance Department held their 10th Beach Fin Rising Symposium. Attendance was great with over 150 undergraduate and graduate students attending from our two speakers: Kathleen Hansen and John K. Stroh. The overall theme of the event was employment and careers with both speakers talking about their career journey. As an investment advisor, Kathleen Hansen also titled her talk, "Smart Money Moves: Careers in Finance and Investing Tips covering a wide range of topics. Following Kathleen, John Stroh, who titled his talk, "Leveraging Finance to Launch Start Ups and Secure C-Suite Positions" explored more of the possibilities of taking ones educational background in business to both start their own business or climb the corporate ladder.
After the regular speakers were through answering all the students' questions, Lecturer Frank McEnulty, then walked the students through how they can and will own their own house by showing them the steps it will take to get where they need to be to own their own single-family home. Something that many people in Southern California believe to be impossible these days. However, as demonstrated, it's not; it just takes some long-term planning.
