Sara Hassan Khani

Sara Hassan Khani is an Iranian-born multidisciplinary artist and art educator based in Long Beach, California, where she received her Master of Fine Arts at California State University Long Beach in 2020. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Tehran, Iran, in 2015. She works across Illustration, Drawing and Painting, Printmaking, and Graphic Design. 
 
As an illustrator and designer, Sara has worked on editorial design, illustration, and mural projects for multiple clients. Sara draws on influences like Persian painting, architecture, literature, and folk culture in these works. 
 
Her recent paintings and prints explore the concepts of time and memory, the relationships between private and public personas, space, and the human form, and investigate nonlinear, abstract, and often ambiguous narratives. Sara's works have been featured in regional, national, and international exhibitions by galleries such as SARAI Gallery (SARADIPOUR), the Brea City art gallery, and the Kleefeld Contemporary Museum. Her most recent solo show was at Saddleback College Art Gallery "Pieces," Mission Viejo, CA, Sept. 2022. 
 
As an educator, Sara has worked with students from various stages and backgrounds, including college students and adult artists with disabilities. She currently teaches as an adjunct lecturer at California State University, Long Beach.
