Pearl C. Hsiung
Pearl C. Hsiung (b. Taichung, Taiwan) is a Los Angeles-based artist who works in painting, installation, and video.
Hsiung received a BA from the University of California, Los Angeles, and an MA from Goldsmiths College, University of London. She has exhibited in solos shows in Los Angeles, London, and Kunming, China as well as in group exhibits including Group Show: Emily Cheng, Pearl C. Hsiung, Sarah Lee, 39+ Art Space, Singapore (2022); The Hearing Trumpet, Marguo, Paris (2022); The Beyond; Georgia O'Keeffe and Contemporary Art, North Carolina Museum of Art and Crystal Bridges Museum of Art (2018); Made in L.A. 2012, Hammer Museum (2012); California Biennial 2006, Orange County Museum of Art (2006); Busan Biennale 2006, Museum of Modern Art, South Korea (2006); and Expander at the Royal Academy of Arts in London (2005). Hsiung is the recipient of a 2024-25 Cultural Trailblazer award from the Los Angeles County Department of Cultural Affairs and a California Community Foundation Fellowship for Visual Arts, Getty Fellow, 2015 Mid-Career Artist grant.
Hsiung's large-scale, tile-mosaic mural, High Prismatic, commissioned by LA Metro, can be viewed at the Grand Av Arts/Bunker Hills station in downtown Los Angeles.
