FAQs

  • Will all floors be open?

All Library floors/areas are anticipated to be open.

  • Will computer labs be open?

The computer lab will open. Every other computer will be operating in a staggered pattern, so no one will be seated across from each other. Once a user is logged off, computer lab student employees will wipe down the work area.

  • Will book stacks be open?

Stacks will be open for browsing. Signage will direct a path of travel.

  • Will restrooms be open?

Restrooms will be open with distancing.  Alternate urinals, toilets, and sinks will be covered/blocked and shut off with signage accordingly. Small trash cans will be placed by exit doors so users can use paper towels to open the door after hand washing.

  • At what percent capacity will you open for red, orange, and yellow tiers?

CDC and Long Beach Health Department will dictate the tier and the library will adhere to EHS & BBS guidelines.

  • How will the library maintain 6 foot social distancing?

For the large study areas, tables will have 3 of the 4 chairs removed. Any side by side seating or small tables will have caution tape/signage placed marking a 6ft distance. This will include couches, standing computers, printers, and all other similar locations.

  • What special cleaning procedures will be used?

Restrooms and computers labs are discussed above. In addition there will be 2 hand sanitizing stations in each lobby. There will be plexi-glass barriers at all service counter areas.  BBS will also provide a custodian to stock all cleaning and restroom supplies and clean high traffic areas (doors, door handles, counters, tables) at least 3 times a day, in addition to the library's own staff and student cleaning.

  • Will CSULB ID be required to enter?

It is anticipated that CSO officers with be checking student/faculty IDs at the door and be doing building occupant counts to maintain required percent capacity.
