Campus-Provided AI Tools
All of these tools leverage Generative Artificial Intelligence. Copilot and ChatGPT EDU safeguard CSULB data unlike publicly available AI tools, which may use your data to inform their large language models. To distinguish between Copilot and Chat GPT, please see the comparison page.

Microsoft Copilot Chat is available through the CSULB campus license to all faculty, staff, and students. Authentication via SSO adds a layer of data protection for campus users. Additional Copilots from Microsoft including Teams AI Companion and M365 Copilots are available at subscription rates. Contact the Division of IT for more information.

ChatGPT for Education will be available through July 2026 as part of the CSU-wide ChatGPT contract. This service is available faculty, staff, and students. The CSU-wide license agreement does not include access for emeriti and auxiliary employees. Like Microsoft Copilot, University data will be protected for campus users.

Adobe Firefly is an AI-powered image generator that offers intuitive controls on customizing style, color, and composition while creating professional-quality visuals. Faculty and staff enjoy a campus licensed account while students are offered a generously discounted rate. This licensed account includes 1000 generative credits that renew each month and can be used in Firefly and across other Adobe Creative Cloud software.
Adobe’s AI features and capabilities are also embedded directly into Creative Cloud applications like Photoshop, Illustrator, and Premiere Pro through features such as Generative Fill, Generative Expand, AI-assisted vector creation, and intelligent video editing tools. These built-in AI functions streamline workflows, enhance creative possibilities, and help users achieve results faster by combining manual control with AI-driven automation.

Zoom AI Companion provides powerful artificial intelligence (AI) support for participants during or after cloud recorded Zoom meetings.
Popular Publicly Available AI Tools
- NotebookLM, Perplexity, and Gemini are popular GenAI tools with simple interfaces, making them easy for everyone to experience. These tools are open to the public but may require a subscription to access advanced features. These publicly available tools do not provide CSULB data security restrictions.
