A seasoned advertising creative, with a heart of an artist, and a passion for teaching. Fernando bridges the world of marketing, design, art, and education. His agency roster consist of Y&R, Campbell-Ewald, Wunderman, David&Goliath, BBDO, Innocean World Wide and now as CEO/Creative Director of his own agency ConceptZombie LLC. His roster of brands are as diverse as his vision of creativity; from Hyundai to Hot Wheels, from Covered California to Carl’s Jr. and from Oakley to the Orange Catholic Foundation.

Fernando is also an educator, with a MA ED in Educational Leadership. He taught at the Art Institute of California-Orange County for 17 years; leading to opportunities to be a guest lecturer/speaker at Cal State Long Beach and Chapman University and now teaching at Cal State University Fullerton. Fernando has also found time to build an artist career. With over 40 gallery showings, 4 art gallery representations his REAL HEROES Collection continues to gain traction and expand beyond Southern California.

At the intersection of Inspiration and Product Design, Jesus Galaz finds Photography. Informing him of the importance of composition, interfaces and of finding different points of view in observation.

As a native Angeleno, he’s seen this “movie set” of a city in good and bad times, though never boring. Wanting to quell his natural inspiration with local car culture, he took a visit to the Art Center College in Pasadena. He’s been hooked on design and imagery ever since. Graduating from there years later, he’s gone on to design pro audio equipment, appliances, heightened experience rides, lifestyle products and more recently, racing airplanes and high end furniture for our four legged friends.

Growing up around such a confluence of people, murals and culture, he’s tried to capture it with his camera in hand. Long commutes turned into adventures in rediscovering the city he grew up in, and made friends along with the way with similar interests. Work turned to teaching, and students inquisitiveness turned to reaching back to just what is it that helps inspire design on a number of levels.

For Jesus, photography has definitely shown that when reaching for design inspiration, it can be a great resource at different stages in the process. From seeing, to a terraced approach to interfaces and materials, to finalizing renderings. Join him as he talks about his process and workflows.

As the Vice President and Interiors Studio Leader of Corgan Los Angeles, he is responsible for design leadership, stewarding client relationships, and business development.

What drives his creative process is his passion to help clients flourish. He helps clients to understand their vision through discovery and develop a brand strategy translated into design and brand experience. He brings a collaborative process deeply rooted in his experience working with the top theater professionals in NYC and his drive for creatively exploring the client story and enhancing the holistic experience through design.

Andrew Moir is a design manager for Hyundai Design North America, where he has been responsible for the interior design of various production and concept models since he joined the company in 2004.

Since 2013, Moir has led the interior design team at Hyundai’s California studio. Recently, his team was responsible for the 2015 Vision G concept unveiled at the 2015 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, the 2017 Hyundai Ioniq, introduced at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, and the N2025 Vision Gran Turismo Concept for the popular auto racing game for Sony’s Play Station. In addition, he helped lead design for the 2009 Sonata facelift and the 2016 Tucson redesign.
Prior to working for Hyundai, Moir worked for Mercedes-Benz Advanced Design in California and Sindelfingen, Germany, for seven years. In that role, he was responsible for the interior design of the 2007 CL-Class Coupe and the 2010 E-Class Coupe.

Moir studied at Coventry University in England before transferring to the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, where he graduated in 1997 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, focusing on transportation design.

Dragon 88 is known for custom design and COM fabrication of products that range from bedding, pillows, throws, outdoor seat cushions, uniforms, and filter masks. We create and source artwork, fabrics, and special techniques to create each designer’s vision.

Designing In & Out of Context

A registered Architect in Manitoba, Canada, recently achieving the perhaps honored status of “retired member”, Chris has had the opportunity to live and work in a number of cities and countries around the world as an Archi-tect, Designer, and Urban Designer.

Most recently the Studio Director for the Entertainment Studio at Cuningham Group, and based in Culver City; Chris has had the opportunity to work on a number of projects around the world for Clients such as: Walt Disney Imagineering, Universal Creative, Warner Bros., Paramount Parks, and a number of independent developers and dreamers around the world.

Chris has previously also worked as an urban designer at RTKL, Los Angeles, for Ralph W. Schilling Architect, in Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada, where he worked as an Architect and Urban Designer, the Fitzroy Robinson Partnership, in London, UK, where he became a studio designer, as well as with other Architectural design firms in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Winnipeg, Manitoba, and Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

Chris’ presentation will focus on the power of creativity, and how bravely following a creative path can open un-known doors to your futures. Creativity can provide the freedom to live and work anywhere. Travel and openness to experience are key to personal connections with others, and to your success. Things are not what they seem; similarities and differences need to be understood for decisions to be made.

There is never any looking back.

Lisa has been called one of the most influential designers of her generation. How anything is currently done is her starting point for exploring how it could be optimized, streamlined and improved.

Lisa is proficient and experienced with form-giving and problem-solving from branding and corporate identity to the design of products, packaging, furniture, lighting, interiors, point-of-sale displays and commercial environments. Her work is beautiful, elegant, confident and driven by her unique blend of style and function, high-tech and high-touch.

A designer since her defection from art history at Brown University, Lisa completed an MFA at Cranbrook during which time she won the Grand Prize in the Forma Finlandia competition. She went on to win a Fulbright to Milan to work with Mario Bellini, an NEA Design Arts grant, the Brooklyn Museum Young Designer’s Award, the Daimler Chrysler Award for Innovation in Design and the Rome Prize.

Apart from design projects for clients like Herman Miller, Walt Disney Imagineering and Alessi, Lisa has taught and critiqued in various design departments and has written for various design publications and blogs.
