Upcoming Seminar
A Path from Research to Clinic: Advancing Therapies for Common and Rare Human Diseases
Dr. Ricardo Ramirez, MED13L Foundation
February 25, 2026
4:00pm-5:00pm in HSCI-105
From the 3D folding of DNA to first-in-human genomic medicines, this seminar follows how fundamental insights into gene regulation become real therapies. I’ll share how FoxP3 programs immune tolerance through higher-order chromatin interactions, how these principles enabled epigenetic silencing of hepatitis B virus now in Phase I trials, and how misregulation of MED13L disrupts brain development—pointing toward emerging therapeutic strategies. The throughline: understanding gene control at its roots can open new paths to treat immune, infectious, and rare neurodevelopmental diseases.
