Dr. Vas Honored with 2023-2024 Fulbright Award

Dr. Vas Narayanaswami has been honored with the prestigious 2023-2024 Fulbright Award from the US Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

Dr. Vas joined CSULB in 2008 and has established a robust biomedical research program with a sustained record of high-quality accomplishments in the areas of cholesterol and lipoprotein research and their role cardiovascular disease and Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Dr. Vas' research program is currently funded by the National Institutes of Health.

Dr. Vas received the prestigious title of Fellow of the American Heart Association in 2017. She proposed a basic research project that addresses the etiology of Alzheimer’s disease (AD), a major, biomedical, global issue.

During her Fulbright Scholar program, she plans to apply her experience and expertise in lipids and lipoproteins to learn and investigate the physical/chemical aspects of amyloid plaque formation, a hallmark feature of AD, using sophisticated mass spectrometry and imaging tools at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research Hyderabad in India.
