Arts Council for Long Beach: The Arts Council for Long Beach (ArtsLB), the city’s official arts agency, is seeking a full-time Communications Intern to support its mission of promoting arts and culture citywide. This 30–40 hour/week paid internship runs from June through December and focuses on expanding public engagement, increasing participation among underserved communities, and supporting the city’s creative economy. Interns will assist with marketing, social media, content creation, and communications strategy, while also gaining experience in arts management. Claims Journal and Insurance JournalTwo insurance-business news media outlets are seeking business reporting interns.  The interns work remotely to support newsgathering while learning about business reporting from experienced editors. Interns will write assigned briefs, as well as interview subject-matter experts and executives for deadline and enterprise articles. Work hours are flexible. Students who have some familiarity with AP style and have completed at least one basic news writing course are strongly preferred. This internship offers class credit and resume-building experience. Interns will assist with archiving photography, primarily through scanning imagery. Long Beach Journalism Initiative: Under the supervision of the radio general manager of KLBP-FM and the executive editor of the Long Beach Post, the journalism intern will assist with the creation and production of a collaborative radio news broadcast to be pre-recorded and aired on Long Beach Public Radio (KLBP-FM). The intern will research and prepare written scripts for one-minute news headline broadcasts. The intern also will assist in the production of a monthly public affairs program and participate with public street teams to represent the project and collect audio and video content. Los Angeles Magazine: Los Angeles magazine, a premier publication covering culture, food, news, and lifestyle in Southern California, is offering editorial internships for college credit. You’ll gain firsthand experience working with writers and editors, pulling court documents, locating sources, and understanding the editorial workflow from pitch to publication. Make-A-Wish: Make-A-Wish Orange County and the Inland Empire offers several unpaid internships that provide hands-on nonprofit experience and the opportunity to help grant life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.
