Fenton – Summer Fellow (Strategic/Earned Media or Digital Communications): Fenton, a social justice-focused communications agency, is offering paid Summer Fellowships ($20/hour) from June 1–August 28, 2026. Fellows work full-time (9 a.m.–6 p.m., hybrid) in New York, D.C., Los Angeles, or San Francisco, supporting nonprofit, advocacy, and social impact clients across issues such as human rights, environmental justice, education, and public health. Two tracks are available: The Strategic/Earned Media Fellow conducts media monitoring and research, builds journalist lists, pitch reporters, drafts press materials, supports campaign strategy, and assists with client events and presentations. The Digital Communications Fellow supports social media and email campaigns, drafts digital content and ad copy, manages outreach platforms, assists with paid media campaigns, monitors online conversations, and analyzes performance metrics. Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts –Public Relations Intern: The Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts (LACSD) is offering a paid summer public relations internship within its Public Information Group. This full-time, 12-week position provides experience in public relations, media relations, social media, and community outreach within a public agency focused on environmental services. Interns will assist with drafting and distributing PR materials, creating social media content, supporting media outreach, coordinating community events and agency tours, maintaining website and social platforms, and helping develop outreach strategies. The San Francisco Standard – Food Reporter Intern: The San Francisco Standard is hiring a paid Food Reporter Intern ($25/hour). Based primarily in the San Francisco office, this role focuses on reporting and writing news and feature stories about food, dining, and drinking culture in the Bay Area. Interns will pitch original story ideas, cover breaking news and trends, produce service pieces (guides and lists), write compelling headlines, and occasionally take basic photos and videos. The role requires strong deadline writing skills, AP style knowledge, social media monitoring, and the ability to spot unique angles ahead of competitors. Weekend or evening shifts may be required. SiriusXM – Summer Podcast Producer Intern: SiriusXM is offering a paid, part-time Summer Podcast Producer Internship with its Comedy & Entertainment Podcast team in Los Angeles. In this hybrid role, interns will gain experience producing, editing, and publishing podcasts while collaborating with producers, engineers, and high-profile comedy hosts. Tower 28 – Influencer Marketing & Social Media Content Internships: Tower 28, an inclusive clean beauty brand, is offering two paid summer internship opportunities) within its marketing team: Influencer Marketing Intern and Social Media Video Content Intern. The Ad Council — Raquel Zarin Summer Internship Program: The Ad Council is offering a paid, 11-week remote summer internship program with placements across multiple departments. Open to students nationwide, the program provides hands-on, client-facing experience, opportunities to contribute to real campaigns, and professional development in areas such as time management and work–life balance. The Cheesecake Factory – Public Relations Intern: The Cheesecake Factory is offering a 10-week paid Public Relations Internship based in Calabasas Hills, with a hybrid schedule. Reporting to the Senior Director of Public Relations and Global Branding, the intern will assist with major PR initiatives, most notably coordinating nationwide media logistics and coverage tracking for National Cheesecake Day, the company’s largest annual PR campaign. Mission Local – San Francisco Journalism Internship: Mission Local, an award-winning nonprofit newsroom focused on covering issues affecting low-income communities and communities of color in San Francisco, offers 12-week paid internships ($1,000/week) for aspiring journalists. Internship tracks include reporting (with strong newsroom mentorship and alumni connections at major national outlets), business (supporting sustainability and operations of a nonprofit newsroom), and coding/design (contributing to data, graphics, and digital storytelling projects). National Journalism Center –Journalism Internship: The National Journalism Center offers a full-time, 12-week, in-person journalism internship in Washington, DC during the spring and summer. Interns work Monday through Thursday in professional newsrooms—placed with print, broadcast, or digital outlets such as The Hill, National Review, Washington Examiner, and others—gaining hands-on reporting experience. On Fridays, interns attend seminars and off-the-record briefings at the Young America’s Foundation headquarters with journalists, editors, and policy experts, along with receiving mentorship on investigative projects. The program combines newsroom training, weekly seminars, and one-on-one guidance. Southern Poverty Law Center – Video Production & Editing Intern: The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) is seeking a paid Video Production and Editing Intern to join its Creative team. This role involves researching, conceptualizing, producing, and editing short-form video content for platforms such as YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, X (Twitter), and Facebook. NBC 7 / Telemundo 20 San Diego — Production Internship: This is a paid opportunity that gives students hands-on experience inside a professional television news environment. As a Production Intern, you’ll learn how live newscasts are created by working with industry-specific broadcast technologies, shadowing Automated Production Control (APC) operators during pre-production and live execution, and receiving direct training on automated control systems. This internship is ideal for students interested in broadcast production and studio operations, and does not require academic credit. Pew Research Center — News and Info Internship: The Pew Research Center Summer Undergraduate Internship is a paid, research-focused opportunity for rising juniors and seniors interested in public opinion, journalism, and data-driven social science.
