Book an HDEV Advising Appointment
General Information
Advising in Human Development (HDEV) is available to all students interested in a major, minor, or a special major combining Human Development with another major. Students are strongly encouraged to see the Undergraduate Advisor Dr. Isabella Lanza (HDEV-Advising@csulb.edu) at an early stage in the major and throughout the development of their programs. Program Planners (also known as graduation checklists) should be filled out with the advisor in the semester before the semester of planned graduation and before the deadline for filing a Request to Graduate (For deadlines, see Schedule of Classes). Students should bring fully completed worksheets to the Undergraduate Advisor at which point the advisor will fill out a graduation check by reviewing the student’s unofficial transcripts and HDEV Major’s Worksheet.
Human Development (HDEV) – Fall 2025
Virtual and in-person advising is offered on Wednesdays and Thursdays (see below). Advising will not be offered during Final Exams Week (December 15-December 19).
Please make an appointment or reach out to the advisor for additional availability, if any.
Virtual Advising:

In-Person Advising:
- When: Thursdays
- 2:00pm - 4:00pm for new and current majors/minors
- Where: HDEV Advising Office (LA3-202A)

Human Development (HDEV) – Spring 2026
Virtual and in-person advising is offered on Wednesdays and Thursdays (see below). Advising will not be offered during Spring Break (March 30th - April 3rd) and Final Exams Week (May 11th – May 15th).

Additional Notes for Advising
For ALL Advising Appointments, please read the following instructions carefully
- First, students will need to make advising appointments at least 24 hours in advance through the HDEV website
- Second, students should email their general advising questions to the Advisor (HDEV-Advising@csulb.edu) at least 24 hours before their advising appointment.
- Students should review their Academic Requirements Report (ARR)

- Sign up for the GWAR placement exam (GPE) by your first semester as a junior. Sign up for the GPE.
- Explore MINORS: College of Liberal Arts; College of Business; Health and Human Services; and New: Equity & Education Minor.
- Planning on taking a class at a Community College while enrolled at CSULB? Check the Supplemental Credit for Current CSULB Students. Check out the website assist.org to see if a course from a Community college will transfer to CSULB.
- Remember: a maximum of 70 community college units may be used toward the 120 units required for graduation at CSULB.
