Opportunity Drawing Rules

Cybersecurity Awareness Month 2026

The following rules apply to opportunity prize drawings associated with Cybersecurity Awareness Month 2026 activities sponsored by the California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) Information Security Office (ISO) and the Division of Information Technology (DoIT).

Eligibility

Eligibility varies by activity:

  • Webinar Attendance Prize Drawings
    • Open only to currently enrolled CSULB students.
  • Mandatory Training Completion Prize Drawings
    • Open only to currently enrolled CSULB students who complete the designated cybersecurity awareness training during the specified promotional period. The promotional period, training requirements, and eligibility criteria will be announced through official CSULB communication channels prior to the drawing.
  • Survey Feedback Prize Drawings
    • Open to currently enrolled CSULB students and active CSULB faculty, staff, and auxiliary employees.

Participants must meet the eligibility requirements for the applicable prize drawing at the time of entry and at the time prizes are awarded. Students must be actively enrolled at CSULB. Faculty, staff, and auxiliary employees must be actively employed by CSULB or a CSULB auxiliary organization.

By participating, entrants affirm that they:

  • Meet the eligibility requirements for the applicable drawing;
  • Have provided accurate and valid contact information;
  • Are truthfully representing their identity; and
  • Comply with all applicable rules and requirements.

No purchase, payment, or donation is necessary to enter or win.

The CSULB Information Security Office (ISO) and Division of Information Technology (DoIT) reserve the right to disqualify entries that are incomplete, fraudulent, duplicate, or otherwise fail to comply with these rules.

Entry Periods

Separate entry periods may be established for the following activities:

  • Webinar Attendance Prize Drawings
  • Survey Feedback Prize Drawings
  • Mandatory Training Completion Prize Drawings

Specific dates, deadlines, eligibility requirements, qualifying activities, prize details, and, where applicable, promotional periods will be announced through official CSULB communication channels prior to each drawing.

For Mandatory Training Completion Prize Drawings, only training completions that occur during the announced promotional period will be eligible for entry. Training completed before or after the promotional period will not qualify unless otherwise specified.

Entry Limits

Unless otherwise stated:

  • One entry will be awarded for each qualifying activity.
  • Participants may enter multiple drawings if they complete multiple eligible activities.
  • Repeated completion of the same activity does not generate additional entries unless explicitly noted.

The CSULB Information Security Office (ISO) and Division of Information Technology (DoIT) reserve the right to verify eligibility and participation records before conducting a drawing.

Prize Selection

Winners will be selected through a random drawing from all eligible entries received during the applicable entry period.
The odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received.
Unless otherwise stated, winners do not need to be present to win.

Winner Notification and Prize Claim

Winners will be notified using the contact information associated with their CSULB records or the information provided during entry.

Winners must respond and claim their prize within five (5) business days of notification. Proof of identity, eligibility, enrollment, employment status, participation, or other qualifying requirements may be required.

Winners will receive instructions regarding prize pickup at the time of notification.

A prize may be forfeited and awarded to an alternate winner if:

  • The winner cannot be contacted;
  • The winner does not respond within the required timeframe;
  • Eligibility cannot be verified; or
  • The winner declines the prize.

Prize Pickup

Prizes must be claimed in person unless otherwise specified by the CSULB Information Security Office (ISO) and the Division of Information Technology (DoIT).

Winners will be provided with pickup instructions and the designated pickup location when notified. Unless otherwise announced, prizes must be picked up from the offices of the Division of Information Technology (DoIT) during normal business hours.

To claim a prize, winners must present one of the following valid forms of identification:

  • A current CSULB Beach ID Card; or
  • A government-issued photo identification card.

The name on the identification presented must match the information associated with the winning entry.

Winners may also be required to provide proof of:

  • Current enrollment at CSULB;
  • Active employment with CSULB or a CSULB auxiliary organization; or
  • Completion of the qualifying activity associated with the prize drawing.

Prizes not claimed within the established claim period may be forfeited and awarded to an alternate winner.

Prizes

Prizes are subject to availability.

All prizes are:

  • Non-transferable;
  • Not redeemable for cash; and
  • Not exchangeable except at the discretion of CSULB.

The CSULB Information Security Office (ISO) and Division of Information Technology (DoIT) reserve the right to substitute a prize with one of equal or greater value if necessary.

Certain prizes may have additional eligibility restrictions. Beach Bucks and other student-specific incentives may only be awarded to currently enrolled CSULB students. Faculty, staff, auxiliary employees, and other non-student participants selected in a Survey Feedback Prize Drawing may receive an alternative prize of equal or greater value, subject to availability and applicable university policies.

Tax Responsibility

Recipients are solely responsible for any applicable federal, state, and local taxes associated with prize winnings.

If required by law or university policy, winners may be asked to complete tax-related documentation before receiving a prize.

General Terms and Conditions

The CSULB Information Security Office (ISO) and Division of Information Technology (DoIT) reserve the right to:

  • Verify participant eligibility;
  • Disqualify entries that do not comply with these rules; and
  • Modify, suspend, or cancel any drawing if circumstances beyond their reasonable control make such action necessary.

CSULB is not responsible for:

  • Lost, late, incomplete, or inaccurate submissions;
  • Technical malfunctions or interruptions;
  • Hardware, software, network, or communication failures; or
  • Errors in the administration of a drawing.

By accepting a prize, winners agree to release and hold harmless CSULB, the California State University system, the Information Security Office (ISO), the Division of Information Technology (DoIT), and their respective employees, agents, and representatives from any claims arising from participation in a prize drawing or acceptance and use of a prize.
