2021 Holiday Mixer

Published January 12, 2022

The 2021 Holiday Mixer took place on December 19 in Dr. Chang's backyard in the form of a potluck. Folks brought their significant others to the party and all five freshly selected scholars were there to join the fun. In total, 23 people were in attendance including one former METRIC student, 12 current METRIC students, six significant others, and four program personnel. Dr. Chang made Japanese curry and rice, Dr. Stevens made an apple and persimmon pie, and people brought many other delicious foods such as lumpia, ground beef empanada, chocolate chip cookies, Vietnamese sandwiches, Costco pizzas, etc. This was a much-needed social event to reconnect students with each other and the weather was just perfect for that.

The purposes of this much-needed mixer were to:

  1. reconnect students and faculty during challenging times.
  2. allow METRIC students to further connect with each other and remind them of the importance of community.
  3. get into the holiday spirit.
