Cybersecurity Awareness Month Weekly Tips
Lock Down Your Digital Crypt
Multi-Factor Authentication Top Tips
Your CSULB Single Sign-On (SSO) is the key to your digital crypt. Don’t let cyber-ghouls break in!
Protect yourself:
- Ditch SMS and phone call multi-factor authentication (MFA) and upgrade to using the Microsoft Authenticator app because it’s the most secure and convenient way to authenticate.
- Never approve MFA requests you didn’t initiate.
- Set up multiple MFA methods for backup access.
- Use a strong, unique password for your SSO that is not used with any other accounts —never share it. See last week’s tips about avoiding phishing scams.
Why Switch to Microsoft Authenticator?
It’s quick, easy, and much more secure than text or phone call methods. You’re more at risk of a thief gaining access to your account if you’re using text or phone call instead of the app! Benefits include:
- Enhanced Security: The app provides stronger protection against unauthorized access.
- Convenience: No more waiting for texts or calls. Just a quick tap on your phone.
Protect your data and your finances. Download the Microsoft Authenticator app today and take control of your security.

Easy "Passwordless" Login
If you haven't already done so, take it a step further by making the switch to a more secure and convenient way of logging in to your campus services. Log in to campus single sign-on services without having to enter a password. All that's needed is to configure Microsoft Authenticator to enable sign-in without a password. The enhanced security will also provide you with location information as part of the sign-in verification and approval prompt.
