CIO'S MESSAGE - APRIL 11, 2018

Electronic Signature Service Now Available

Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to introduce DocuSign, an electronic signature (eSignature) service that colleges, departments, and offices may use to create and send campus forms that require signatures. The eSignature service is one of the key projects in our Smart Campus Initiative. DocuSign will help reduce paper on campus and decrease the time spent obtaining traditional hardcopy pen-and-paper signature approvals on campus. DocuSign is a legally binding and secure tool approved for use at CSULB.

The DocuSign service may be used on most computing devices, including smart phones and tablets as well as desktop and laptop computers. Campus approvals are obtained electronically, and the signing and transaction records are automatically tracked and securely stored for future reference or audit. The Division of Information Technology (DoIT) will provide training to help interested colleges, departments, and offices use DocuSign for creating and routing forms for approval electronically.

Because forms are routed through DocuSign’s email service, please become familiar with the legitimate look and feel of this new campus service. As always, please do not hesitate to contact alert@csulb.edu if you have concerns or questions about any email legitimacy.

Please contact DoIT-Service@csulb.edu or your ASM for information about accessing this new eSignature service.

For more information about this new eSignature service, please see the About DocuSign service page and the brief video, DocuSign: How It Works

We would like to take the opportunity to thank the offices of Human Resources Management, Faculty Affairs, Financial Management, Enrollment Services, and several other offices for helping test this new eSignature service and providing useful feedback for finalizing the new service.

If you have questions, please contact the Technology Help Desk, helpdesk@csulb.edu, 562-985-4959.
