WGSS Advising

Thinking about major or minoring in Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies? 

If you have taken at least one WGSS course, you are on track to majoring/minoring in WGSS or Queer Studies. 

Why major or minor in WGSS? 

WGSS majors pursue careers and graduate education in many different fields. WGSS prepares students to meet the challenges of the 21st century and to successfully pursue careers in a variety of fields, from community organizations to government agencies, healthcare to education, law and public policy to business, and more.

General Information on WGSS Advising

Advising in Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies (WGSS) is available to all students interested in a the WGSS major, WGSS minor and/or Queer Studies minor, or a special major combining Women's Gender, and Sexuality Studies with another major. Students are strongly encouraged to see the Undergraduate Advisor Dr. Lori Baralt (lori.baralt@csulb.edu) at an early stage in the major and throughout the development of their programs. Dr. Baralt guides students on any and all WGSS advising questions, registering for WGSS courses, course substitution requests and major requirements. Adding a WGSS major or minor is easy! When requesting assistance for WGSS advising please follow the steps below:

  1. Email Dr. Lori Baralt (Lori.Baralt@csulb.edu) with the subject line, "WGSS advising question."
  2. In the email, please state which degree you are requesting information for (WGSS major, WGSS minor, Queer Studies minor).
  3. Please provide your student ID and your current GPA.
  4. Send!
