Chemistry & Biochemistry Professors Recognized by the State
Congratulations to two Chemistry & Biochemistry professors, Dr. Kensaku Nakayama and Dr. Lijuan Li!
Dr. Nakayama and Dr. Li were recently honored with recognition for their years of excellent service at The Beach. Presented by the former mayor of Cerritos, Laura Lee, on behalf of the California State Senate, California Legislature, and the County of Los Angeles, Drs. Nakayama and Li were given certificates to mark the occasion.
Dr. Kensaku Nakayama

Dr. Nakayama was recognized for his 38 years of service at CSULB, dedication to students. Dr. Nakayama and the students in his lab develop synthetic catalysis methods that could result in drugs that are effective in the treatment of Alzheimer patients.

Dr. Lijuan Li

Dr. Li was also recognized for her service, including 27 years with CSULB, her continued mentorship of students, and leadership as a department chair. Throughout her time at the University, Dr. Li has put student success at the forefront and impacted many lives.
