Declaring a COE Minor
Minors in the College of Engineering (COE) are available to both COE and non-COE undergraduate students who are fully declared in their major. A COE minor provides a structured pathway to develop knowledge in a specialized engineering discipline outside of the student’s primary field of study, enhancing academic preparation and professional development.
Eligibility
- Have a 2.5 minimum GPA (transfer students must wait until first semester grades are out)
- Be fully declared in your major
- Able to complete current major and new minor within 144 units (Timely Graduation Policy)
- Have not filed for graduation or be close to graduation, as minors typically takes 3 or 4 semesters to complete due to prerequisites
- Demonstrate satisfactory degree progress in the minor; Students are encouraged to compete one course in the minor before declaring

The College of Engineering currently offers three minors. Each program has unique prerequisites and requirements, outlined in the CSULB University Catalog. Students are encouraged to review these details carefully and meet with an advisor before declaring.

Important Notes
- Priority enrollment for COE courses goes to declared COE majors; space for minors may be limited.
- Declaring early is strongly recommended to allow for prerequisite sequencing and on-time graduation.
- Students interested in minors outside of the College of Engineering should contact the department that houses the desired program for information on eligibility and declaration procedures.
