Career Profiles: Nursing

CSULB School of Nursing

The role of the nurse is integral to the healthcare of consumers. As an important member of the healthcare team, the nurse provides direct client care services, counseling and teaching in a variety of settings, e.g., hospitals, nursing homes, community health services, doctors' offices, and schools. Nurses who provide care in these settings assess the patient and family with respect to physical, psychosocial and environmental factors, design a plan of care, implement the plan, and evaluate the effects of the plan with the patient and family.
