Are the materials you need unavailable? CSU+ is CSULB Library’s interlibrary loan (ILL) service that students, faculty and staff may use to borrow materials from other libraries that are not currently available at the CSULB Library.

Update: CSU+ is now the name for all interlibrary loan request services, including those previously submitted through BeachReach.

In the past, CSU+ referred specifically to resource sharing among CSU libraries. It now represents our full ILL service — connecting you to libraries within the CSU system and thousands of additional lending libraries!

CSULB students, faculty and staff may also visit any CSU Library and borrow circulating materials. You will need to present your CSULB ID card.

Locate an item that is unavailable at CSULB. Log in to view request options.

Click 'GET IT' for your desired format.

Complete the CSU+ Request Form. Click 'SEND'.

Track your request in OneSearch under My Account -> REQUESTS.

Locate an item that is unavailable at CSULB. Log in to view request options.

Complete the CSU+ Request Form. Click 'SEND'.

Track your request in OneSearch under My Account -> REQUESTS.

When your desired item is not discoverable, click 'Send a request'.

You may also place a request by using the 'CSU+ REQUEST' option in the top menu.

CSU+

What is CSU+? 

CSU+ is a service tied to our OneSearch catalogue that borrows books and other materials that the CSULB Library does not currently have available.

  • Borrowing items from one of the other 22 CSU libraries is prioritized first.
  • Requests are placed through the OneSearch catalog record by selecting the "Get It" button.
  • If your item is not found in OneSearch, please complete the CSU+ Request Form.
  • Any posted delivery times and loan lengths are estimated averages. Terms may vary based on the lending library. Locating a lending library is not guaranteed.
    • Average delivery time for physical loans borrowed from other CSUs is 2-5 business days.
    • Average delivery time for physical loans borrowed from other lenders via USPS/UPS may take 1-2 weeks.
    • Average electronic delivery time for articles and book chapters is 2-5 business days; usually not longer than a week.
  • You will receive an email notification when your digital articles and book chapters are electronically delivered to your library account.
    • Please be sure to download and save any PDF documents you receive within the 30 day time limit.
  • Loan period is generally 16 weeks ; can vary by lending library
  • Request progress can be tracked in real-time through your library account
  • Items are usually non-renewable
  • No overdue fines · Whole ebooks are not requestable
  • You will receive an email notification when your CSU+ loan can be picked up from the Luxer lockers (located in front of the Library’s main entrance) or if your item cannot be supplied through CSU+

Other policies:

  • The due date is on the front of the book strap. Please leave the strap on at all times.
  • Return your CSU+ loans, with book strap and paperwork, to the Library Circulation desk, in person. DO NOT place CSU+ loans in the book bins on campus.
  • Materials are subject to recall by the lending library. Patrons must return materials immediately when a recall notice is received from the Interlibrary Services office.
  • You are liable for any lost or damaged material. The lending library will determine the costs, fines, and processing fees for which you are liable.
  • Failure to comply with these procedures may result in University services and Library privileges being withheld.
  • Conditions for use are set by the lending institution and must be observed by the borrower. You will be notified of any conditions, given instructions, and they will be noted on the book band. These conditions may include: For Library Use Only, Photocopying Not Allowed, etc.

What happened to BeachReach / the old form?

As of 2/17/2026, CSULB Library patrons can no longer be able to place new ILL requests directly through the BeachReach webpage. Please place ILL requests directly through the OneSearch catalog record by selecting the "Get It" button, or by using the CSU+ Request Form.
