Cancellation Policy

The Cancellation Policy for CSULB Housing Applications (if service fee and license has been submitted) reads as follows:

FALL APPLICATIONS

Waitlisted Applicants:
  • If you cancel while on the paid waitlist, you are eligible for a refund of your service fee. Once cancelled, please allow 2-3 weeks for your service fee refund to be returned to your original method of payment.

Confirmed Applicants: 
  • Cancelling before 30 days of the License Start Date (before July 24, 2024): If you cancel after being confirmed a space in housing, you forfeit the non-refundable service fee.

  • Cancelling within 30 days of the License Start Date (after July 24, 2024): If you cancel less than 30 days before the start date of your license (after July 24, 2024 for 2024-2025 Academic Year), an additional penalty of $34 per day is added to the $275 Non-Refundable Fee.

    For Example:

    If you cancel on July 30, 6 days after July 24, you will be charged approximately $204 ($34 x 6 days), in addition to the $275 service fee, making your cancellation fee $479.

  • Cancelling after the License Start Date (after August 23, 2024): If you cancel after the start of your license agreement begins or once you have moved into the residence halls, a cancellation fee of $200 plus any additional housing charges will be applied to your account. This portion of the cancellation policy applies to those who did not move in but cancelled after move-in day.

SPRING APPLICATIONS

Waitlisted Applicants:

  • If you cancel after being confirmed a space in housing, you forfeit the non-refundable service fee.

HOW TO CANCEL:

If before Move in:

  1. Log in the Housing Portal.
  2. Select "Housing Application".
  3. Click on "Cancel" found at top right on any of the various application pages.
  4. Complete cancellation online.

* Please note that refunds can take up to 60 days to process after we receive the completed form.

If after Move In:

  1. Go to Forms on Housing Website or Housing Portal
  2. Select “Request to Vacate ”
  3. Complete the form for submission.
  4. Housing will review and provide status within a timely matter.

Important Information about Cancelling

YOU MUST cancel your license agreement online with the Housing office.  Stop payment on checks or cancelling with university admissions does not cancel your housing agreement. (This includes denied admission; choosing not to attend CSULB, finding off campus housing, or etc.)
