In collaboration with our campus partners, Housing and Residential Life has planned activities, workshops, and events that will prepare you for your residential life experience and equip you with the tools for academic success. Consider this is your orientation to housing.
How to Prepare for Beach Days?
Please be sure to check your email on a frequent basis to ensure that you are up-to-date with the most current information. You can also visit our social media pages on Instagram and Facebook for announcements! Sign the Beach Days Participation Waiver to participate in all the Beach Days activities.
Refer to the email you received from HRL to see what day you are scheduled to move in. If you have not selected a move-in time on that day, please do so immediately. Plan to arrive and move in during your 90 minute window.
For residents living at Beachside Village, we will have shuttles going and to and from campus from August 17th-August 21st. Please check back in the coming weeks to check the shuttle schedule during Beach Days. Shuttles during Beach Days are only for Beachside residents. You will be getting a Beachside shuttle sticker for your ID card at move-in that you will use for beachside shuttles during Beach Days and throughout the year.

7:00am-2:00pm: *The dining halls will have light refreshments for students and their guests who are moving in during this time.
8:30am-2:00pm: Move-in Day for our Thematic Communities so they can get settled and ready for an evening of activities. This includes Honors, LGBTQIA House, Transfer community, Black & Pan-African Scholars House, First Gen House, and International House.

8:00 am-5:00 pm: Bookstore Promotions – Visit the bookstore for your CSULB swag, school supplies, and other essentials. They will have some great discounts during Beach Days!
4:00pm- 5:30pm: Thematic Community Welcome and Dinner for Honors House, First-Gen Community, and Pan African Scholars! Spend the evening eating dinner and getting to know others in your community. This event is an opportunity to get great food, start making new friends, and connecting with campus partners. This event is for thematic community residents. Please note, this is a Resident Only Event.
5:30pm-7:00pm: Thematic Community Welcome and Dinner for LGBTQIA+, International House, and the Transfer community! Spend the evening eating dinner and getting to know others in your community. This event is an opportunity to get great food, start making new friends, and connecting with campus partners. This event is for thematic community residents. Please note, this is a Resident Only Event.
7:00pm-9:00pm: Spend the evening getting to know others in your community by getting to know your Resident Assistants and participating in teambuilding activities.
8:00 am – 8:00 pm: Hillside, Parkside, and Beachside Dining Halls are open all day for residents and up to three guests who are helping them move.
10:00 am- 4:00pm: After you move-in drop in at the Annual Beach Bash @ the University Bookstore. You will have an opportunity to meet campus partners, win prizes, pick up your books, and much more!
5:30pm-7:30pm: Small group dinners with peer leaders-Join our peer leaders, meet new people, and learn more about the university. Each resident will be assigned a group number with a peer leader for the durations of Beach Days. Please check your email and check back on the Beach Days website for your peer group assignment.
7:30pm-9:00pm : Get know the people you are living with better by joining them for a community program! For more information, connect with your RA and see signage in the community for more information.

2:00pm-4:00pm: Major Mingle-Come out to the Los Alamitos Lawn and meet others from your majors and have an opportunity to create study groups!

6:00pm-9:00pm: Student Recreation and Wellness Center-Come join us for an evening of games, activities, and more. Tonight, you get to choose what program you want to attend. You can pre-sign-up and Participate in Student Recreation and Wellness Center activities.
7:30p- 10:00pm: Multiversal Movie Night- If you don’t' feel like going to the SRWC, you can stop by the Los Alamitos Lawn to watch Dr. Strange.
7:00pm & 8:30pm: Speed Friending-Maybe you don’t want to watch a movie? Check out our annual Speed Friending event located at Parkside North.Sign up to participate in the “Speed Friending” event in the Parkside North courtyard (open to all residents to sign up). The event will provide a semi-structured space for residents to get to know one another. There will be both guided, facilitated conversations with prompts as well as informal engagement opportunities for residents to mix and mingle among each other. There will be two sessions, one at 7:00pm and one at 8:30pm. Light snacks and drinks will also be provided.
8:00 am-9:30 am: Breakfast will be available at Parkside, Hillside, and Beachside Dining. Come join us for breakfast.
10:00 am-3:30 pm: Mandatory Zero Shades of Grey and ATOD- Come join us for interactive activities focused on the topics of Alcohol Tobacco & Other Drugs and Consent. We are all responsible for our communities’ safety and for looking out for one another. You will participate in a live workshop that focuses on safe partying, and overall wellness. In addition, Consent is important and mandatory, as is this training. This Bystander Intervention program is facilitated by campus partners to help minimize sexual assault situations and teach you how to respond to situations pertaining to Sexual misconduct. This is a mandatory event and attendance will be taken. Check in with your RA to see which session you will be attending.
12:00 pm-1:00pm: Lunch will be served today all three dining halls – Parkside, Hillside, and Beachside
8:00pm-11:00pm: Residence Hall Association presents Gatsby Casino! The RHA invites you to their signature event. Join them for a night full of casino games, dance, live DJ, food and opportunity drawings. Every resident will be given tokens to play casino games for a chance to win more tickets for the opportunity drawing! Don’t want to play casino games? That’s okay! You can use your free tokens to directly enter the opportunity drawing for a chance to win amusement park tickets, gift baskets, and more! Everyone gets a chance to win!
9:30am-7:30pm: All three dining halls open 9:30am-7:30pm continuous dining.
1:00pm-3:00pm: Campus Tours-Don’t know where things are on-campus. Participate in a campus scavenger hunt! You will have an opportunity to meet new people and learn about the CSULB campus.
3:00pm: Want to get involved and make an impact on your residential village? Like planning events, being a leader and influencer, and spending money? Come out to the Community Government Information Session located in the Parkside Commons. This information session is for all three villages. Each community will have six e-board positions. Each of the six Community Governments will plan activities and events for their residents using a budget provided by HRL. Every resident is automatically a member of RHA and their Community Government.
4:00 pm-7:30 pm- Hillside Dining hall is closed for dinner. Hillside and Parkside Residents can go to dinner at Parkside Dining Hall.
5:00 pm-7:30 pm: All three dining halls open
7:00pm-9:00pm: Mandatory Floor Meeting- for all residents who have moved in. Look for more information from your RA on where to meet. Attendance will be taken.
