Course Equivalency Waivers

Under certain circumstances, students can waive classes in some programs. Please see below for the rules for each program.

Accelerated MBA, Evening MBA, and Online MBA Programs

Newly admitted students who have earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from CSULB or from another AACSB-accredited business school may be eligible for Course Equivalency Waivers. Students must have completed coursework within the last 3 years and have earned a grade of "B" or better in the business coursework submitted to meet the criteria. Additionally, students with CPA licensure may submit for ACCT 500 and CFA licensure may submit for FIN 501. 

Newly admitted students will receive additional information about how to submit the Course Equivalency Waiver Requests after they have accepted the offer of admission. 

There is a maximum of 4 courses (12 units) that are eligible for the Course Equivalency Waiver Requests:

  • ACCT 500 Financial Accounting (3 units)
  • FIN 501 Financial Management Concepts (3 units)
  • MGMT 500 Business Policies, Operations and Organizations (3 units)
  • MKTG 500 Marketing Concepts (3 units)

Saturday MBA, MS Accountancy, MS Finance, MS Information Systems, MS Marketing Analytics

Classes in these programs cannot be waived.
